Organizational Background

The Jamaica 4-H Foundation 2016 Limited was established in September 2017 and is governed by the Department of Co-operatives and Friendly Societies. The objective of the Foundation is a response to the strategic objective of the Jamaica 4-H Clubs to strengthen its support to its Youth in Agriculture programme by raising financial and non-financial support to design, implement and strengthen the programme initiatives of the Clubs in stimulating, engaging, and empowering youth to contribute to the agriculture sector. There is a combined experience of over 20 years between the Directors of the Foundation and the Jamaica 4-H Clubs who provide volunteer service to the Foundation in project design, management, and implementation of project activities. The Directors of the Foundation consist of qualified Project Managers, Agriculturalist qualified at the post-graduate level, Entrepreneurs and other professionals.

The objectives of the Foundation are as follows:

1. To support the development of youth in agriculture in Jamaica by providing the opportunity for all interested persons and organizations within or outside Jamaica to contribute financially to the Jamaica 4-H Clubs youth in agriculture program of activities. These activities include agricultural education, training and certification, school gardens, agricultural scholarships, youth Agri-entrepreneurship, facilitate youth accessing land.

2. To facilitate the advancement of agricultural development and environmental protection through youth led activities.

3. To ensure funds for the future development of programs, facilities and other opportunities for youth and volunteers involved in the Jamaica 4-H Clubs program
